Sam Smith Reining Horses is home to Sam Smith. Sam Smith, a top NRHA judge, reining horse trainer and rider has been in the reining horse industry almost since the beginning of the NRHA. While Sam has shown all disciplines of Western horses, he has always concentrated on Reining horses and felt that riding and training these remarkable athletes was his true calling. With 30+ years experience in the horse industry, Sam has ridden such great horses as Winders Dude, Dry Oil Bar, Lydiah Pinkham Lore, Gun Town Charlie, Future Enterprises, Diamond Lil, The Advocate, Pure Lil Peppy, CR Bounty Hunter, Dry Desert Storm, Hollywood White, Hollywood Knight Out (pictured to the left with Sam), Dunnits Daisy, Dox Lucky Starlight, Lil Ruf Pep E Chex, Okies Check Mate, Ruf N Smart. Miss Brim Star, Sailin Starlight, Downunder Diva, Miss Brim Peppy, The Dude is Ruf, Agaze Juice and Stun Gun. With winnings closing in on the half million dollar mark Sam consistently takes his horses to top of their class.


2016 NRHA Non Pro Coach of the Year

Sam Smith of Marietta, Oklahoma has been said to “live and breathe the sport of Reining.” And it is this lifelong dedication to promoting the NRHA and the preparation of the horses to the sport that has enabled him to be successful not only as a rider but also as a coach. With over 30 years of experience as a trainer, Smith has more than proven his talent in the show pen boasting in excess of $570,000 in NRHA Lifetime Earnings.

More importantly, Smith has coached countless youth, open and non pro circuit champions and year end winners and “demonstrates great patience with all of his riders” and “truly wants them to succeed.” In addition to Smith’s superior coaching skills, he has served on several professional committees and is also an NRHA Judge. He is also active in the Southwest Reining Horse Association (SWRHA).

With Smith’s work ethic that is “second to none” and a focus that “never falters,” he, along with his clients, will continue to be successful in the show pen.
